The project HOPE FOR THE FUTURE focuses on the improvement of students' education in the field of learning and practising Active European Citizenship. The newly created European context, the rainbow-like cultural and human diversity, is very challenging for students who get in touch with it and experience it. The project aims: to define the concept of EU Active Citizenship; to make students sensible of social signals; to promote the awareness of a common future greatly depending on youth involvement in social issues; to scan the practical impacts Active Citizenship has on people's lives and to push STs into action. "Learning Europe", the comparative cultural study carried out by partner countries represents the solid ground of the knowledgeable feature of the project leading to a better understanding of Europe's cultural panorama. This level of the project furnishes students with precious first-hand data about the partners' cultures and helps them establish personal contacts with people from other countries inducing in them the feelings of respect, tolerance, comprehension and facilitates the elimination of prejudices. By getting in direct touch with other cultures, participants praise both their national cultures and the partners' cultures, and find many similarities, that unite them, and of course, many differences, that enrich them. "WE - children of the Sun" stands for the practical, active facet of European Citizenship, the one that produces the change in mentality and is consequently the engine of conversion and maturation of a new active anti-discriminatory attitude that shapes energetic young people prepared to find brilliant solutions to the (often neglected) gloomy spots of social realities and to play the role of sun rays and hope in tomorrow's society |
